Junior doctors vote to ballot for industrial action

The BMA’s Junior Doctors Committee has voted to go to a ballot on industrial action in early January 2023 after the government failed to respond to its demands over pay and conditions.
The vote on 1 October means that junior doctors have entered a trade dispute and will request approval from the BMA’s council to ballot junior doctors in England from around 9 January next year. The form of industrial action will be decided at a later date.
