Dear Editor
Prompt answer
Acute psychotic manifestations
Dear Editor:
Covid- 19 has affected the world for two years and Cuba has been no exception. Many psychopatological affections has emerged in this period, child and juvenile populations has been affected also. Taking into account that a biograph change or a great impact event can lead to an emotional imbalance, it can be worse if we do not have the resources that aloud us reinforcing positive learning patterns and foster resilience for a successful development, as well as keeping vaccination schemes proposed by the CECMED.
Mental disorders have increased its morbidity during confinement, which was demonstrated in this particular population, where cases of mental pathologies increased. It is known that psychosis are nosological entities that threaten all functions of the psychiatric patients, whom have an important genetic load. A number of teen patients, diagnosed with acute psychosis during the pandemic, have called our doctors´ attention. All the patients suffered from SARS-Cov-2, although not all of them were inoculate with the complete scheme of the vaccine and they had pathological family history of psychiatric disorders described as a fundamental element.
After the SARS-Cov-2 was cured, 20 days later psychotic episodes appeared and the patients were diagnosed according to the diagnoses patterns (DSN-V) related to this nosological entity, following the treatment schedule suggested by the Cuban Public Health System, with a positive answer.
Due to this, we recommend to increase the population resiliency, because mental illnesses are real challenge and require attention, even before suffering the direct consequences of certain events or disasters.
Warm wishes
