Patients with severe wet AMD regain vision after stem cell treatment

Two patients with very severe wet age related macular degeneration (AMD) who received stem cell treatment have regained reading vision.

The findings, from a phase I trial by the London Project to Cure Blindness, were published in Nature Biotechnology.1 The project is a partnership between Pete Coffey of University College London and Lyndon da Cruz, a retinal surgeon at Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
