Why is your head in your hands?
I’m a social psychologist.
So?
Our whole profession is under assault from critics who say that it is little more than “tabloid fodder,” full of glamorous and widely publicised but irreproducible claims reached by underpowered studies and “p-hacking” (mining data to find significant patterns without first having a specific hypothesis). It’s very wounding.
