Having voted to reject the proposed new contract, junior doctors now need to work with each other and senior colleagues to tackle the problems that lie ahead, says Kaanthan Jawahar

The EU referendum result has set a mandate to split the United Kingdom from the European Union. An uneasy feeling followed, with those who voted to remain bemoaning the far right and older people for dictating their future.

Yet it was the disenfranchised working classes hedging their bets on uncertainty by voting to leave that influenced the outcome. In their eyes, anything was better than preserving the status quo that austerity had forced on them.
