Peter Douglas Jackson

It would be fair to say that Peter Douglas Jackson would rather be remembered, above all else, as an operatic tenor/baritone than an ENT surgeon.
He was born in Cumbria, the son of a Methodist minister and an accomplished artist. Having gained a general FRCS (Ed) in 1961 he later leaned towards ear, nose, and throat medicine. He passed his Diploma in Laryngology and Otology in 1967 and gained his FRCS (Eng) in ENT medicine from London in 1968.
He was senior house officer at Alder Hey Children's Hospital, Liverpool, moving to RSO at Hallam Street Hospital, West Bromwich, and then at the Royal Infirmary, Edinburgh. From here he joined …
