Rapid responses are electronic comments to the editor. They enable our users
to debate issues raised in articles published on bmj.com. A rapid response
is first posted online. If you need the URL (web address) of an individual
response, simply click on the response headline and copy the URL from the
browser window. A proportion of responses will, after editing, be published
online and in the print journal as letters, which are indexed in PubMed.
Rapid responses are not indexed in PubMed and they are not journal articles.
The BMJ reserves the right to remove responses which are being
wilfully misrepresented as published articles or when it is brought to our
attention that a response spreads misinformation.
From March 2022, the word limit for rapid responses will be 600 words not
including references and author details. We will no longer post responses
that exceed this limit.
The word limit for letters selected from posted responses remains 300 words.
The study showed a survival benefit in Oestrogen Receptor (ER) Negative breast cancer, so the oestrogen effect does not seem to contribute to mortality. The majority of BRCA mutation related breast cancers are Triple (ER, PR, HER2) Negative, so Oestrogen should have no effect on recurrence and mortality.

Why should ovary removal reduce breast cancer mortality? Answer: because it removes a source of oestrogen. No marks for that! Now ask a school girl/boy to think about that. Ask if there are any other sources of oestrogen out there that might also reduce breast cancer deaths if they were removed. They both come up with the same reply! Yes they say, my mother takes oestrogen tablets because I saw the packet in the press, and if she stopped those wouldn't it be the same as removing the ovaries? Wow! And imagine nobody else ever thought of that! Those kids must be geniuses ..........or else everyone else is stupid.......or else this is the craziest most blatant and successful cover up in medical history.
Re: Ovary removal is linked to lower breast cancer mortality in BRCA1 carriers
