Emergency departments get extra £300m to relieve pressure: The UK government has released an extra £300m (€380m; $470m) to help fund hospital emergency departments in England on top of the £400m it announced in the summer. The money will be used to boost staff numbers, especially at the weekends. Emergency departments are supposed to see 95% of patients within four hours, but performance dipped below 94% in recent weeks.
