Re: Surgery or drugs for gastro-oesophageal reflux?

The reviews of the use of surgery or drugs in the treatment of gastro-oesophageal reflux presented by Peter Mc Culloch1 , A M Grant et al2 do not refer in detail to the causes of failure of either of these pathways. Such causes may include persistent obesity, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome or persistent Helicobacter pylori infection. It would be of interest to know to what extent these factors were considered by the authors.
