Government must do more to de-politicise science, says US group

Corporations and companies in the United States are continuing to distort and falsify the views of scientists and doctors by manipulating and suppressing scientific data, says a report from an independent scientific research group.
“People may believe that political interference in science went extinct when George W Bush left office, but the reality is that the pressure to politicise science is still with us,” said Francesca Grifo, director of the Scientific Integrity Program at the Union of Concerned Scientists, which produced the report. The union is a not for profit organisation that describes itself as working for a healthy environment and a safer world.
