Militant attacks are jeopardising famine relief in Horn of Africa

Aid operations in and around Kenya’s Dadaab refugee camp, the world’s largest, have been severely disrupted after an attack by suspected Somali militants in which two Spanish staff from the aid group Médecins Sans Frontières were abducted.

Montserrat Serra, aged 40, from Girona, and Blanca Thiebaut, aged 30, from Madrid, were working as logisticians for the medical charity, which is providing health services for almost half a million refugees who have fled famine and conflict in Somalia.
