Surgeons call for limit on bed occupancy to reduce infections: Hospital bed occupancy should not exceed 82%, and there should be enough staff on wards so that patients with infections can be cared for in isolation beds, says a paper on hospital acquired infections from the Royal College of Surgeons of England (www.rcseng.ac.uk).
